Nawras interacting with working architect and interior designer Anju M Kalita , Delhi , India
Hello Anju, Please give us some idea about yourself
Myself Ar. Anju M Kalita presently practising. Currently I am handling projects in Delhi ncr and in Assam as well.
What interior projects you mostly work on
Through out my career I have mostly done residential interiors and I feel its more challenging and interesting as well, to deal with different clients and their needs.
What kind of paintings you like most
Well in terms of personal choice i like realistic abstract paintings.
What are the challenges you face when you think of buying a painting for particular interior spaces
Certainly there are many challenges I have found during the selection of artwork starting from cost to scale and also the colour of paintings. Again visiting the galleries is very time consuming task.
How do you decide the budget for artwork for an interior space, how much percentage you keep aside for artwork
It depends on the type of project I am handling. For example for café or art and crafts showroom the budget kept for paintings is really good approximately 20% of the total budget.
What do you think of Nawras Art Gallery’s potential
It’s a good initiative that actually fill the gap between painters and buyers. This platform gives us a range of different varieties of painting to choose from.
Again it encourages the budding painters to showcase their talent.
Thank you Anju, this conversation is helpful for all the artists and designers who are working in the field Art and Interiors.
